Brisbane

We met Aaron, Lisa and Evan at St Mary's Church for Joshua's christening. The church is a beautiful old building overlooking the Brisbane River, it reminded me of the churches I attended as a small child, so many had similar high wooden ceilings and stained glass windows.

Callistomen and Jacaranda trees. St Mary's Church grounds, overlooking the Brisbane River.

My little brother Iain was there, it's amazing how easy it is to be with someone that you haven't seen for 14 years. He's 34 now and is a policeman, something he always wanted to do, I'm not sure how long he'll stick with it, his passion is archeology, something he has always been very interested in, he has completed a universtiy course in this subject so maybe one day he'll find a job where he can use this knowledge.

Back to Sharon and Murray's place for a barbeque lunch. My kids were all there so it was another chance to catch up... it was going to be so hard saying "Good-bye" again. When the time came and they had to leave I felt very emotional. Little Emily cried a few tears and gave me a big cuddle, Sean had tears in his eyes too. All that day they had kept coming to me for hugs... they knew it would be the last time that they would see me for a long time. This was harder that leaving Taylah. Not knowing how long it would be before I saw my children and grandchildren again made this even more difficult.

It was good when the crowd of Sharon's friends died down, they were nice people but I wanted to spend time alone with her family. We spent the evening together and had a good talk. I went to bed relatively early... about 10.15 and slept till 5 ready for a long day. It was really good to have met Murray and Joshua and catch up with Sharon. We left for the airport at 9am, and were there by 9.30. Rob and James were there to see me off. I checked my luggage in, spent a little time with my family then after the "Goodbyes" headed off down the escalator just after 10 o'clock.
